For everyone who has been emailed a PSD and does not own Photoshop
Designers send PSDs; everyone else just needs to see the thing and get a PNG. This converter reads the Photoshop file in your browser with the ag-psd library and renders the flattened composite image the PSD itself stores — the same preview Photoshop writes when a file is saved with Maximize Compatibility — then hands it back as a PNG (transparency preserved) or a JPG flattened onto a background you choose. No upload, no account, no Photoshop.
One honest limit: this renders the composite, not the layer stack. If a PSD was saved without a composite, there is nothing flattened to render — the tool tells you so and why, instead of failing silently.
Worked example
Drop in a typical design PSD — say a 1920 × 1080 social graphic with a dozen layers — and the tool reports its dimensions and top-level layer count, shows the rendered image, and offers the PNG and JPG downloads. Transparent edges stay transparent in the PNG; the JPG lays them over white (or black, or navy) so nothing turns into mystery black boxes downstream.
How to use this converter
- Drop your .psd onto the box, or click to choose it. The file is read on your device only.
- Check the preview and the reported dimensions — that is the composite exactly as stored.
- Pick a JPG background if you plan to download JPG; PNG ignores it and keeps transparency.
- Download PNG or JPG. The conversion happened locally; nothing was uploaded at any step.
About the composite — the one caveat that matters
Photoshop's "Maximize Compatibility" option stores a flattened copy of the image inside the PSD, which is what other programs (and this tool) render. Files saved with it off carry layers but no flattened image; ag-psd cannot invent one without re-implementing Photoshop's renderer, and this page will not pretend otherwise — it explains the situation and points you to re-saving with compatibility on, or exporting a PNG from any editor that opens the file.
