US default is 0%: Etsy’s official Regulatory Operating fee list does not include the United States (checked October 2026). Set a rate only if your seller country is on Etsy’s list.

Etsy caps the Offsite Ads fee at $100 per attributed order; the cap is applied in the maths.

An Etsy fee calculator that counts the whole stack — and corrects two numbers most calculators get wrong

Etsy does not take one fee; it takes a stack. A $0.20 listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the discounted price plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge, Etsy Payments processing on top of that, and — only on ad-attributed orders — an Offsite Ads fee that can dwarf the rest. Sellers who price from the headline 6.5% alone discover the other lines at settlement. This calculator itemises every fee, adds your own product, shipping and packaging costs, and then runs the maths backwards: the exact list price that leaves the profit you ask for.

Fee base = discounted item price × quantity + shipping charged + gift wrap

Net profit = fee base − Etsy fees − your costs. Percentage fees are charged on the fee base; the listing fee is per item and the $0.25 processing fixed fee is once per order.

Worked example

At the defaults — a $30 item, quantity 1, no discount, free shipping to the buyer, no Offsite Ads, with $10 item cost, $5.00 shipping cost and $0.50 packaging — Etsy takes $3.30: $0.20 listing + $1.95 transaction + $1.15 processing + $0.00 regulatory. Your costs are $15.50, so the order keeps $11.20 — a 37.3% margin, with Etsy’s fees equal to 11.0% of what the buyer paid. The reverse solver, asked to protect a $10.00 profit at the same costs, sets the floor at a $28.68 list price.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the item price and quantity, then your seller discount — Etsy charges its percentage fees on the discounted price, so the discount belongs in the maths, not in a footnote.
  2. Add the shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer. Both sit inside the fee base; neither is a pass-through.
  3. Check the fee rates against your seller country. The defaults are the US rates; the regulatory rate is editable because it depends on where your shop is based, not where the buyer is.
  4. Choose an Offsite Ads tier only if this order was actually attributed to an offsite ad — most orders are not.
  5. Read the reverse price before you list: it is the lowest price that survives the full stack and still leaves your target profit.

The fee defaults used here — including two corrections

Listing: $0.20 per item (first quantity at listing; each additional quantity auto-renews at $0.20 as it sells). Transaction: 6.5% of the discounted item total plus shipping and gift wrap charged. Etsy Payments (US bank account): 3% + $0.25 per order. Two widely copied numbers are deliberately not used as defaults. First, the Regulatory Operating fee is 0% in the United States: Etsy’s official list covers Canada, France, Hungary, Italy, India, Spain, Türkiye, the United Kingdom and Vietnam — the US is not on it. Second, the Offsite Ads cap is $100 per attributed order, as Etsy’s policy words it — not per item. One stated simplification: processing is applied to the same base as the transaction fee and excludes buyer sales tax, because this page takes no tax input; Etsy’s official processing base includes tax charged on the listing where applicable.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Etsy charge on a sale?
For a US seller: a $0.20 listing fee per item (the first quantity is charged when you list; each additional quantity is charged as an auto-renew when it sells), a 6.5% transaction fee on the total — item price after your discount, plus shipping and gift wrap charged to the buyer — and Etsy Payments processing of 3% + $0.25 per order. A Regulatory Operating fee applies only in the countries on Etsy's list, and Offsite Ads fees apply only when a sale is attributed to an offsite ad.
Does Etsy charge a Regulatory Operating fee in the United States?
No. Etsy's official Regulatory Operating fee list covers Canada (0.50%), France (1.14%), Hungary (1.97%), Italy (0.80%), India (0.05%), Spain (0.88%), Türkiye (1.67%), the United Kingdom (0.48%) and Vietnam (1.24%) — the United States is not on it, so the US rate is 0%. If you see a US regulatory fee quoted elsewhere, it is not in Etsy's current official list; this calculator defaults the rate to 0% and leaves it editable for sellers in listed countries.
How does the Offsite Ads fee cap work?
Offsite Ads cost 15% of the order total if your shop made less than $10,000 in the past 365 days, or 12% once it has made at least $10,000 (participation is then mandatory). Etsy's policy caps the fee at $100 per attributed order — the cap is per order, not per item. This calculator applies min(rate × fee base, $100) and lets you choose None, 12% or 15%, because attribution only happens on ad-driven sales.
Is the payment processing fee here exactly Etsy's?
It is a stated simplification. This calculator applies the US processing percentage to the same base as the transaction fee — discounted item price plus shipping and gift wrap charged — plus the $0.25 fixed fee once per order. Etsy's official processing fee is assessed on the total sale amount including any sales tax charged on the listing; this page has no sales-tax input, so tax is excluded from the processing base. Everything else follows the official bases.
How does the reverse mode find the price for a target profit?
Every percentage fee is linear in the list price, so the solver is closed-form, not a search. It solves once with all percentage fees in the rate (valid while the Offsite Ads fee is under its $100 cap) and once with the Offsite Ads fee treated as a fixed $100 (valid once the cap binds), checks which branch the answer actually falls in, and rounds the price up to the next cent. The fixed parts are the listing fee ($0.20 × quantity) and the $0.25 processing fee.
Does quantity multiply every fee?
No. The listing fee and your item costs multiply by quantity. The percentage fees (transaction, processing, regulatory, Offsite Ads) apply to the order total, so quantity is already inside them through the item total. The $0.25 processing fixed fee is charged once per order, however many items it contains.
